SHELTER CONCEPT
This unique project was the vision of a local fine art woodworker who imagined a simple-to-assemble but visually interesting shelter/retreat kit. Working with equilateral triangles made from common framing lumber, this mathematical challenge was technically resolved through the application of our three-dimensional digital modeling tools. By stacking and rotating the small triangles into larger equilateral triangles the result is both compelling and intriguing. Paired with sections of glazing, protected by standing seam metal roofing, and finished with a 1x6 wood interior, this simple retreat was able to be assembled in just three days. With a second concept developed to include a skylight at the peak, the options for customization are endless. Exploring prefabricated assemblies and the opportunities that exist within common and accessible materials was both challenging and rewarding. This type of application has the capacity to make good design accessible to anyone.
